Chinese chess online vs computer4/14/2024 ![]() Otherwise, I’d like to create my own images (So that I can say that I made it all). I’m not that great at generating 2D images, so I’m using images I found on Deviant Art at the moment(I’ll have to get permission to use these images if I intend to keep them). In my newer version I’ll have a background image and a board texture. I’ll probably upload a newer version soon. I’m playing around with textures right now. Check the first post to find the newer blend. (This game uses a lot of the same pieces as normal chess, but there are slight changes to their move patterns, such as the king being unable to move diagonally)Įdit: Well, I didn’t have anything that needed to be done today, so I made some (relatively) quick pieces and set up an option to switch piece styles in game. ![]() I might, however, create an option to change the models of the pieces in game, so that the pieces look more like normal chess pieces. Also, this game gives me an opponent to play against who is actually at about the same skill level as I am. I don’t expect to mod this into a chess game, not because of inability, but because I’ve seen loads of chess games on the computer before, and it wouldn’t be that original, so I don’t have as much motivation. The piece art is currently just drawn in photoshop I’d like to try some actual calligraphy and scan it into the computer, but for now it’ll stay like this. These settings (among others) can be changed in their respective ingame menus (M Key) such that you can play against another person or have two computers play against each other (or change mid game)īoth games use the same background image right now, but if you don’t like the image it shouldn’t be too difficult to change it with the blend. Point and click with the mouse to select and move pieces, arrow keys to rotate the board, and M key to bring up a menu.īoth games default to player1 as human and player2 as computer. The controls are mentioned in the blends, in the text window on the side. The game currently defaults to Stylized pieces, but it can be changed to traditional Chinese Chess pieces in the menu (which is brought up by pressing M) If you’re interested, wikipedia has a description of the game and the piece movements here: If you select a piece it will show you all of the legal moves of that piece, so you can just stumble around with moves and see what happens if you want. The Game Rules are not written out I have no ‘Help’ /‘how to play’ description in game. (I’m still pretty new to coding in general) What’s special about this game for me is the fact that I have created a reasonably good AI for it, which is an accomplishment for me. For the record, I primarily made the Chinese Chess game and normal Chess is a small side project. After some feedback, I decided to follow up on it by releasing a modified version of this game that is, actually, normal Chess. Standard Chess can be downloaded from Chess.zipĪlright, so I created a chess variant called “Chinese Chess” in Blender, and have uploaded it. Note: these files were created in 2.48 and have not been updated to work with 2.49Ĭhinese Chess can be downloaded from Chess.zip Thanks!Ĭheck out his post with a download link for the 2.49 version HERE Oh, Sunjay was kind enough to update the code to the 2.49 API, so my standard chess game can now be played on Blender 2.49.
